Privacy Policy for NexaSight AI

This Privacy Policy describes how the NexaSight AI browser extension ("we," "us," or "the Extension") handles your data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your data remains fully under your control.

1. Data Storage & Local Processing

NexaSight AI is designed with a "Privacy First" architecture. We do not own, operate, or maintain any external databases or servers to collect your personal information. Specifically:

  • API Keys: Your configured API keys (such as DeepInfra or Tavily keys) are stored strictly and securely on your local device using Chrome's local storage. We never have access to your keys.
  • Chat History: All your conversation history is saved locally on your machine. You can delete this history at any time directly from the extension interface.
  • Settings: Your visual and functional preferences are stored locally on your device.

2. Data Handling & Third-Party APIs

Because NexaSight AI functions as a "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) interface, your data is only transmitted when you actively initiate a request:

  • Website Content & Screenshots: When you send a prompt, the extension may capture the text or a visual screenshot of the specific webpage you are currently viewing. This data is required to provide context to the AI.
  • Transmission: This context, along with your chat prompt, is sent directly to the third-party API provider you have configured in your settings (e.g., DeepInfra, OpenAI, or Tavily).
  • No Interception: We do not intercept, view, or store the prompts, screenshots, or website content you process. The data flows directly from your browser to your chosen API provider. Please review the privacy policy of the API provider you choose to use.

3. Permissions Required

To function correctly, NexaSight AI requires certain browser permissions. We strictly use these permissions for their intended purpose:

  • activeTab & <all_urls>: Used exclusively to read page context and capture screenshots of the active tab when requested by you, allowing the AI to understand the page you are viewing.
  • storage: Used to save your API keys, chat history, and settings locally on your device.
  • scripting: Used to extract the text content of the page so the AI can answer questions about it.

4. Data Selling & Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, website content, or communication data to any third parties. We do not use your data for marketing, profiling, or lending purposes. The extension strictly serves as a bridge between your browser and your configured AI APIs.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our extension or Chrome Web Store policies. Any updates will be reflected with a new "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
